gitaristler scott sellers ve clark domae brilikte buyumu$tuler ve uzun suredir birlikte caliyorlardi, daha sonra scott sellers jon berry ile tani$ti ve ikisi bir cok projede ve grupta yer aldi. sonra o zamanlar iyi bir baterist olan mike jimenez i gruba kattilar, en son olarak clark domae nin gruba katılmasiyla kadroyu toparlami$ oldular.
grup ismini peter pan hikayesindeki bir karakterden almaktadir.
rufio ilk albumu perhaps i suppose u "the militia record" etiketiyle piyasaya 2001 yilinda surdu.
daha sonra 2003 yilinda produktor nick rasculinecz in yardimiyla hazirlanan ve nitro records etiketiyle piyasaya surulen mcmlxxv yani 1985 isimli albumleriyle sahalara geri donduler. ayni yaz vans warped tour a katildilar.
2005 yilinda the comfort of home adli ucuncu albumlerini kaydettiler ve sonrasinda mxpx , relient k gibi gruplarla beraber bir turneye ciktilar.
2006 nin sonlarina dogru basist jon berry ve baterist mike jimenez gruptan ayrilip science fiction theatre adli bir grup kurdular. grubun 2 elemaninin ayrilmasindan sonra rufio, no use for a name ile olan turnesini iptal etti. henuz gruptan resmi ayrilik karari aciklanmamasina ragmen roportajlardan grubun ayrildigi anla$ilabiiyor.
