tamamiyle zamanının-dışından bir grup olan avustralyalı power üçlüsü wolfmother 2000 yılında kuruldu. yaptıkları müziğin 60’ların sonu/70’lerin başındaki blue cheer ve black sabbath’ın proto-heavy metal sound’uyla bezeli saykodelik tınıları içerdiğini düşünürsek, wolfmother’ı 30 yıl geç kalmış sayabiliriz.

vokalde ve gitarda andrew stockdale, basta ve orgda chris ross, davulda myles heskett’den oluşan wolfmother, dönemin rock festivallerinde yer alabilmek adına 4 parçalık bir demo albümü yayınladı. ama sonuç beklendiğinden de başarılıydı ve grup bu demo kaydının resmi dağıtımı için yerel bir firma olan modular records’la anlaştı.

ikinci ep dimensions, 2006’da yayınlandı ve wolfmother bu senenin başında son derece büyük bir sıçrama gerçekleştirip yerel firmadan dünyaca ünlü amerikan firması interscope’a geçti. aynı adlı albümleri mayıs ayında piyasaya sürüldü ve top40’a girmeyi başardı.
